Starbucks First Coffee Shop in Seattle & A Giveaway

Waiting in line to get into the first Starbucks!
Waiting in line to get into the first Starbucks Coffee Shop!

The first time we visited Seattle, I had a list of places to go and things to see, and Starbucks’ first coffee shop in the Pike Place market topped that list. Being a huge coffee fan, and a regular Starbucks girl, I was super excited to check out the cafe for the first time.

Located in the heart of the Pike Place Market in Seattle, Starbucks’ first location is a huge tourist attraction. However, there is one little secret about this coffee shop – it’s actually not the first Starbucks location. Did I blow your mind?

In 1971 the first Starbucks was opened in a location a few blocks north of the highly trafficked “original” Starbucks. The actual original location was on 2000 Western Ave, and then moved to its’ location in Pike Place Market five years later. You can now amaze your friends with this tidbit of knowledge!  Regardless, I stood in line for about 45 minutes for a cappuccino and a souvenir.

The coffee shop itself has no real seating, and with so many people inside it’s quite difficult to take a good picture of the interior. On anyone’s first trip to Seattle, seeing the first Starbucks coffee shop at Pike Place Market is a must – they offer great souvenirs that can’t be found at any other Starbucks location, and you get a real cheesy touristy vibe (which is okay sometimes!).
