When I need something for my house, the first place I look is always Simple Human. Their designs are sleek, modern, and uber practical, especially for our family. I love the look of their items, with their sleek and fingerprint-proof stainless steel, and the durability can’t be beat.

I was looking for a solution to our garbage and recycling issues. I really wish I had taken a “before” picture to show you what a mess that corner used to be. A garbage bin with no lid and a bright blue recycling box overflowing with cardboard, paper, and cans. It was a disaster! I avoided looking at that corner, and if friends came over I would try to hide everything in the closet!

Solution? The Simple Human 48-Litre Steel Bar Recycler. Durable enough for a family, practical enough to hold all my waste and recycling in one beautiful steel container.

The steel bar feels strong and is intended to last over 20 years of stepping on it! The lid can stay open with the push of a small red switch found under the lid, so you can easily pull out the inner bins and replace the natural charcoal filter which absorbs odours.

Inside, each 24-litre bin uses the perfectly fitting “G” liners. Each bin slips in and out of the trashcan easily. Once the liners are on you can no longer tell which bin is for recycling or waste, so I’m going to put a small label above each one, intended more for guests than our family.

I adore the simple look of this garbage can. The base measures at 22.2″ by 14″, and with the lid closed it stands at 25″, so it’s not tiny by any means. However it fits beautifully in the space, adding a bit of shine and an industrial feel (which I love!), while still complementing its’ surroundings. While the price isn’t cheap, it’s definitely worth it, especially when it comes to the durability of this waste can.

What I Love About the Simple Human 48L Steel Bar Recycler:

  •  Fingerprint-Proof Stainless Steel. Because who has time to clean and polish their garbage can?
  • Waste & Recycling in ONE. So easy to teach the kids about recycling, and have it all in one place!
  • Odorsorb Filter. Keeps my kitchen odourless and it’s built right into the lid.
  • 48 Litre Capacity. The size is perfect for our family of 4, not too big, not too small – just right!
  • Custom Fit Liners. No garbage bag peeking out underneath the lid!
  • Quiet Closing Lid. Means no slamming sounds!

It has made recycling things much easier in my house, as well. My husband can quickly throw things in there without thinking about where to put it and my daughter questions almost everything that she’s about to throw out. “Can this be recycled?” is a constant question, and I love that she’s thinking about recycling and reusing items.

The Simple Human 48L Steel Bar Recycler has an amazing 10-year warranty (how many companies offer that on a garbage can?), and it’s really built to last. Its’ practical features are useful and well thought out, while the minimal and modern exterior complements your space.

This is so nice. I agree with you about the waste and recycling bins. We have the same problem. The stainless steel looks so nice and I like that it is smudge proof. Thank you so much for sharing
