I’ve been excited about the Sea to Sky Gondola since its’ opening in May 2014, but since we’d been so busy finishing our house build and moving in, we didn’t get the chance to visit it until July! So far, we’ve been up the gondola twice and it’s been a beautiful experience each time.
On our first visit, we went on a warm and sunny Saturday night, where we got to enjoy the sunset and the ‘Super Moon’. Our second visit was on a cloudy Sunday, and we experienced their three-course menu offerings, which were delicious and satisfying after working up an appetite hiking the Panorama Trail.
The Sea to Sky Gondola is a great place to have family adventures – from the super bouncy Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge, to the hiking trails and viewing platforms (which can be a bit scary for those afraid of heights!), you’ll find animal prints and traces of woodpeckers as they’ve punched holes into trees, and you can finish your adventure with a delicious ice cream on their beautiful decks with the stunning views of the Howe Sound.
I am eagerly awaiting next year’s unveiling of their downhill mountain bike trails, as well as this winter’s back country skiing potential! I haven’t yet had the chance to go back country hiking, but am hoping to do the Shannon Basin Loop Trail soon! After taking in the views, a pint from the Summit Lodge is sheer perfection, with beers on tap from Howe Sound Brewery, including their exclusive Sky Pilot Northwest Pale Ale.
ps. More things to do in Squamish with the Kids!
