There are certain Christmas traditions that our family looks forward to every year. An advent calendar is always exciting and our kids have a Lego Advent Calendar each December. We also do our favourite (and less creepy!) elf on the shelf, Christopher Pop-in-Kins. We read the book on the last night of November, and then each morning we run around the house searching for the elf until Christmas Eve when he heads back up to the North Pole!
The personalized video messages from the Portable North Pole are quickly becoming one of the most memorable holiday experiences for my family. Each year, Santa sends a unique video message to the kids, complete with pictures, fun scenarios, silly elves, and even reindeer! The personalized videos remind the children that Santa is on his way, that he’s been watching their behaviour this year, and he let’s them know if they’re on the naughty or nice list!
It’s hard to describe just how magical these videos are for the children. Watching Santa speaking right to them, using their name and knowing how old they are, it creates a sense of wonderment and awe, and really brings magic to Christmas. You can feel their sense of anticipation, waiting to know if they’ve been naughty or nice! It’s super easy to make these video messages, and the best part? They’re free! Let me show you how you can make your own message from Santa!
To create your own personalized video message from Santa Claus, head over to Portable North Pole and click on “Start the Magic”. Choose if the video is intended for a child or a grown-up. From there, fill in the information to help Santa answer a few questions:
Step 1: Input the child’s information. After inputting the name of the child, you can listen to a few different variations until you find a pronunciation that matches your child’s name. Choose if the child is a boy or a girl, add their picture, birthday, and the country where they live.
Step 2: Choose whether you feel the child is on the nice list, the ‘almost-nice’ list, or the naughty list. Give Santa some information on what the child does on a day-to-day basis (like what grade they’re in, or if they stay at home with mom or dad), what the #1 present on the child’s wish list is with a picture – and then you’re done! From here you can choose to add Premium Options, which I highly recommend. (Head to the bottom of this post for a 20% OFF coupon!)
Step 3: I highly recommend choosing the premium options (which cost $3.99 Canadian) because of the further personalization and uniqueness you can add to the video, especially if you have more than once child. This ensures they will get two completely different videos and add to the ‘real’ feeling.
The premium options included choosing which video scenario you prefer, and adding names of people you know on the shelf next to your child’s book. You then add three photos, the first two of your choice and the third is of your home. After validating all the information, your video is complete and ready to watch!
Bonus: if you don’t like a certain photo in the video, or you want to change some information, you can always go back and edit a video to make it absolutely perfect. You can make as many videos as you want, and you can share them on Facebook, Twitter, or via Email. You can also send personalized telephone calls from Santa to your child!
Just for fun, I thought I’d check out the new feature on Portable North Pole, sending a Grown-Up Message from Santa! I created it to myself from my husband and sent a “Naughty” video message. I was laughing at all the silly things that Santa can say! The video for grown ups is shorter than the video message for kids, and there are less options for customization, but that’s OK! It’s a cute little video that you can send to your sister, a friend, or your boyfriend! Check it out below:
The Portable North Pole website creates FREE personalized video messages from Santa, however the Premium option is very much worth it! The videos are longer and have more customizations, and now you can save 20% off with promo code: BLG20BKP. Just enter the code at checkout to receive the 20% off!
